My interests in jazz are:
Brita is a music photographer that specializes in the photography of folk, jazz, rock, blues, aboriginal, indie and world music but she is open to any genre as a music supporter. She is based in the Detroit area & works on assignment or freelance. Her favorite jazz listening is Swing, Sonny Rollins, Albert Ayler, the 1960's Detroit scene artists and more. She does not proclaim to be a music expert and is always ready to learn & listen from those who are experts. Her skills lie in visual arts. Brita served on the Board at the Detroit Music Hall as a Trustee was a member of the Jazz Cafe committee which created the new dynamic room under the guidance of Skip Norris.
More about what I do:
Brita Brookes is a music photographer who specializes in photographing live performances, concerts, covering festivals and studio sessions. Her best work involves having a keen eye for composition while capturing an emotional expression from the artist all while being as unobtrusive as possible and respecting the artists privacy. Brita currently is a photo intern for the Detroit Metro Times and covers Music gigs around South East Michigan for this particular assignment. Brita is a member of JJA, the Ontario Folk Alliance, various Blue Coalitions across the US and Canada, AIGA (American Institute for Graphic Arts) & is currently a Detroit AIGA Student Ambassador. Brita has shot for the Detroit Metro Times Newspaper, Ride the Tempo Blog, & Island Unplugged Festival.
I support the JJA because
It is a great educational and professional networking entity and can be a possible catalyst of good for the industry and how the future productions/musicians are seen/sold/booked/reviewed.
