After you’ve been blogging for awhile, you’ll want to think about whether your blog is taking the direction you want it to, who your audience is, and whether you can pull in more readers by refocusing your content or improving your site outreach. We’ll discuss how to go beyond reacting/commenting to actual reporting and storytelling and share simple techniques for learning more about your readers and making it easier for new readers to find your blog.

Workshop Topics
  • Improving your blog writing
  • Site stats and what they mean
  • Getting found in search (simple SEO)
  • Tags and keywords
  • Doing a site review
  • When do I need to "upgrade" my site and do I need to hire someone to do it?
This workshop will provide information of use to anyone who blogs, though it is oriented toward individuals, especially arts journalists and writers, who want to blog for professional purposes and arts organizations that want to use blogs for promotion or education.

Workshop instructor JoAnn Kawell  is the Media Director and Online Administrator for the Jazz Journalists Association. She is a long-time journalist, writer and editor who creates and consults on websites and blogs via her company Ozmotic Media.

THIS WORKSHOP WAS CONDUCTED LIVE IN NOV 2012 BUT YOU CAN VIEW THE RECORDING BY REGISTERING HERE.  WHEN YOUR REGISTRATION IS COMPLETE, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL WITH INFORMATION FOR ACCESSING THE RECORDING ONLINE.
