My love for jazz began in the 1970s, when I first discovered jazz‑fusion artists like Les McCann. Years later, while working as a photojournalist covering the Detroit Jazz Festival for a local publication, I fell in love all over again — this time with both the music and the musicians. That passion eventually led me to reach out to JazzTimes, where I landed freelance assignments and continued deepening my connection to the jazz world.
