The professional aspects of photographing music have become ever more challenging as today "everyone thinks they're a photographer," equipped with cell phones that are capable of print-level images. The true pro finds their images are too easy to appropriate, alter and use without credit or compensation; that restrictions are imposed by artists' managers and venues, limiting access, and that their high-level services may be undercut by amateurs. There is more to do about your work than point-and-shoot, more to know than the name of the publicist for a sought after star -- as will be discussed by award-winning practitioners of the craft including Stuart Brinin, Enid Farber, and Luciano Rossetti among several photographers who have shown their images and discussed their careers in previous Seeing Jazz sessions.
Hrayr Attarian will moderate a candid discussion of professional jazz photography that will not shy away from the nitty gritty, but suggestion practical solutions to some of the issues anyone serious about their work is bound to confront. Questions will be welcome from registered attendees; this session of Seeing Jazz will be archived at the JJA's YouTube channel.
